Danaher Corporation Announces Motion Control Group Executive Appointments

Danaher Corporation announced today that Thomas S. Gross, 46 years old, has been appointed to the new position of Corporate Vice President and Group Executive of the Motion Control Group and John S. Stroup, 34 years old, has been appointed President, Kollmorgen - Industrial & Commercial, effective immediately.

Mr. Gross will be responsible for the performance and strategy of the overall Motion Control business, which includes APIMotion, BSA, Pacific Scientific Automation Technology, Kollmorgen Industrial & Commercial, InMotion (formerly Atlas Copco Controls), and Warner Motion. Mr. Gross joined Danaher in 1999 as a Corporate Vice President and Group Executive and President, Fluke Corporation. Prior to joining Danaher, Mr. Gross was President and Chief Executive Officer of Xycom Automation, a leading supplier of open, industrial automation products and services. Prior to joining Xycom in 1998, Mr. Gross spent 20 years with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation where he progressed through a number of sales, marketing and general management positions. In 1992 he was appointed Vice President and General Manager of the Motion Control Business, until his promotion in 1997 to Vice President, Operator Interface and Rockwell Software Business. Mr. Gross earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1976 from the University of Wisconsin.

Mr. Stroup will be responsible for the Industrial & Commercial division of Kollmorgen Corporation, a leading general motion control products and solutions supplier focusing on high performance and high accuracy applications. Mr. Stroup joined Danaher earlier this year as Vice President, Business Development for the Motion

Control Group, where he has played a key role in strategy development and acquisition planning and integration. Prior to joining Danaher, Mr. Stroup was Vice President of Marketing and General Manager with Scientific Technologies Incorporated (STI) since 1998. In this role Mr. Stroup was responsible for all corporate marketing and international sales activities for STI's safeguarding business, as well as general management of STI's Specialty Automation business. Prior to joining STI, Mr. Stroup spent 10 years in the Motion Control industry beginning in 1988 as a Field Application Engineer for Parker Hannifan's Compumotor Division. He progressed through more responsible marketing management positions with Compumotor before joining Rockwell Automation as Vice President and General Manager, General Motion Control Business in 1996. Mr. Stroup earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University in 1988 and his MBA from The University of California at Berkeley Haas School of Business in 1994.
