Danaher Corporation announced today at its annual shareholders' meeting that its Board of Directors has elected H. Lawrence Culp, Jr., formerly the Company's Chief Operating Officer, to serve as the Company's President and Chief Executive Officer and to fill the unexpired portion of Mr. George M. Sherman's term as a Director of the Company through the 2002 shareholders' meeting, effective at the close of business on May 1, 2001.

As previously announced, the planned retirement of Mr. Sherman, the Company's former President and Chief Executive Officer, is effective May 1, 2001.
