Danaher Corporation Announces Executive Appointments

Danaher Corporation announced four corporate officer appointments today. Gary A. Masse, 41 years old, has been appointed Vice President and Group Executive, Gilbarco/Veeder-Root. John S. Stroup, 37 years old, has been appointed Vice President and Group Executive, Danaher Motion. Donald E. Doles, 57 years old, will assume the responsibility of Vice President, Danaher Business System and Corporate Procurement. Alex A. Joseph, 48 years old, has been appointed Vice President, Corporate General Manager.

Mr. Masse joined Danaher in 1997 in the Danaher Business System Office. He later was appointed Vice President, Manufacturing at Jacobs Vehicle Systems, and became its President in 1999. In 2001, Mr. Masse was appointed President, Danaher Power Solutions. He was subsequently appointed President, Linear Motion Systems within the Danaher Motion Group after the acquisition of Thomson Industries. In his new role, Mr. Masse will lead the Gilbarco/Veeder- Root team globally, and will report to Steven E. Simms, Executive Vice President. Prior to joining Danaher, Mr. Masse held increasingly responsible positions in manufacturing and program management at General Electric Company. Mr. Masse received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hartford in 1985.

Mr. Stroup joined Danaher in 2000 as Vice President, Business Development for the Danaher Motion Group and was appointed President of the Kollmorgen Industrial and Commercial Division in early 2001. He was most recently in the role of President, General Purpose Systems, the largest segment within the motion platform. Mr. Stroup's new responsibilities encompass all Danaher Motion businesses globally. He will continue to report to Philip W. Knisely, Executive Vice President. Prior to joining Danaher, Mr. Stroup held a variety of marketing and general management positions within the automation businesses of Parker Hannifin, Rockwell Automation, and Scientific Technologies, Inc. He received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University in 1988, and his Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.

Mr. Doles joined Danaher in 1989, and has held a variety of positions in operations, materials, purchasing, and general management across several Danaher businesses. He was appointed Corporate Director, DBSO in 1999, and Corporate Vice President, Procurement in 2002. He will continue to lead Corporate Procurement, and will assume overall leadership of our Danaher Business System globally. He will report to H. Lawrence Culp, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining Danaher, Mr. Doles held positions of increasing responsibility in supply chain management at Cummins Engine Company. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Indiana University.

Mr. Joseph joined Danaher in 1986 with the acquisition of Chicago Pneumatic. He was with Matco Tools until 1993 where he attained the position of Executive Vice President. He was President, Qualitrol until 1997 and subsequently was appointed President, Namco Controls. Alex joined the corporate office in 1999 as Director Corporate Development. Alex will continue to have a leadership role in corporate development activities as well as providing management responsibility for certain Danaher businesses. He received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering from Cornell University, and a Master of Business Administration from Rutgers University.

Danaher also announced today that William J. Butler, Group Executive and Vice President, Danaher Business System and Procurement has elected to leave the company to pursue other opportunities.
